Artist Statement

I make photographs that slow you down—images built from patient looking, careful framing, and a respect for ordinary places. Printed with intention and made to live on your wall, each piece is an invitation to notice light, texture, and quiet moments you might otherwise pass by.

01

See the Scene

Every image starts with time outdoors—walking, watching, and returning until the light and weather match the feeling I’m after. I look for clean lines, strong shapes, and a moment of stillness that holds your attention. When it clicks, I set the frame and wait for the scene to reveal itself.

02

Make the Exposure

I work deliberately: careful composition, small adjustments, and exposures made with intention. Details matter—highlights, shadows, and the quiet textures that give a photograph depth. I aim for images that feel calm up close, and confident from across a room.

Collage of three real-world testing moments: a commuter using Volta over-ear headphones on a busy train, a photographer reviewing shots on a Volta camera in a sunlit cafe, a cyclist checking their Volta smartwatch on a tree-lined path

03

Print it Right

The final step is translating the photograph into a print you’ll want to live with. I proof for color and contrast, then choose papers and finishes that suit the image—matte for softness, gloss for punch, or something in between. Each print is checked for consistency, then prepared to ship safely.
